CaloPlatter
Privacy Policy
Effective: November 7, 2026 · Last updated: November 7, 2026
The short version
- Your food diary and health information stay on your device.
- No account is required. No ads. We do not sell your data.
- Online food search is optional and off by default. When you use it, only your search text or a barcode number is sent.
- You can delete your local records from Settings. Exported or shared copies must be deleted separately at their destinations.
1. Who we are
CaloPlatter (“CaloPlatter”, “we”, “us”) is an Android nutrition and activity tracking app published by Mohsen Tayser. Website: caloplatter.com.
For privacy questions or support, contact support@caloplatter.com. This policy is published at https://caloplatter.com/privacy-policy/.
2. Data stored on your device
The app stores the following in a local database on your device. It is not sent to us or to any server we operate.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Profile you enter: name or nickname, date of birth or age, sex, pregnancy or breastfeeding status, height, current and target weight, activity level, goals, calorie and nutrient targets | To calculate your calorie and nutrient targets |
| Food diary: foods, meals, amounts, calories, nutrients | To show your daily totals and history |
| Recipes you create, water, exercise, weight history and daily notes | To track your progress |
| Custom foods, favorites, app settings (language, online-search switch) | To personalize the app |
Some of this information may be considered health-related. We do not collect it on our servers and we do not share it with anyone.
3. Data that can leave your device (only if you choose)
If you turn on Allow online food search in Settings and then use the online search button, or scan a barcode that is not found in the app, CaloPlatter sends only the search text or the barcode number to an external food database to fetch product information:
- Open Food Facts – a community database licensed under the ODbL (world.openfoodfacts.org).
- USDA FoodData Central – the U.S. government nutrition database, if that source is enabled in your version of the app.
We do not send your name, health profile, notes or a device identifier with these requests. The request includes a generic app identifier (the app name and version) in the standard User-Agent header. The “test connection” button in Settings sends a fixed sample search word and no personal data. As with any internet request, the service receives your IP address and handles it under its own privacy policy. Results come from contributors and public datasets and may be incomplete or inaccurate; the app marks them as unverified. A result is saved to your device only if you choose to add it.
If you leave online search off, the app makes no food-search requests.
4. Camera
The camera permission is used only to scan barcodes. Frames are processed on your device in real time to read the code. Images are not saved and not sent anywhere.
5. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
- We do not show ads or use advertising identifiers.
- We do not require you to create an account in the current version.
- We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services in the current version.
If we add accounts, cloud sync, analytics or other data-collecting features in the future, we will update this policy before turning them on and tell you in the app.
6. Current edition and purchases
The current edition of CaloPlatter is free and works with records stored on your device. It does not offer purchases or subscriptions. If paid features are introduced in a future edition, we will update this policy and the app information before making them available.
7. Exports and sharing
You can choose to export your records as JSON or CSV, or share the exported content through another app. Exports may include personal and health-related information and are plain text without file encryption. A copy is saved or sent to the location or app you select, which may use cloud storage. You control whether to export or share and which destination to use.
8. Retention and deletion
Your local records remain on your device until you delete them in Settings or uninstall the app. Reset all data removes local records and restores the initial app data. Automatic app database cloud backup is disabled.
Resetting or uninstalling does not delete exported files, copies you have shared, or request logs held by external food providers. Delete exported or shared copies from their destinations, and consult the external provider for its own retention and deletion practices. We do not keep your health records on an app-operated server, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
9. Your rights
You can view, correct and delete your information directly in the app. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or a region with similar law, you may also have the right to access, rectify, erase or restrict processing of your data, to withdraw consent at any time (for example, by switching online food search off), and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To make a request, contact support@caloplatter.com.
10. Children
CaloPlatter is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information to the app, contact us and we will help.
11. Security
Your data is stored in the app’s private storage on your device and is protected by your device’s security (screen lock, encryption). Requests to external food databases use HTTPS. Exported files are not encrypted by the app. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
12. Health notice
The calories, nutrients and goals shown in CaloPlatter are estimates for education and lifestyle tracking and are not medical advice. Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before changing your diet, especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or are under 18.
13. Open-data attribution
Product data from Open Food Facts is available under the Open Database License (ODbL). © Open Food Facts contributors.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app before they take effect.
